Frequently Asked Questions

What type of trainer are you?

We utilize the Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive ethical model (LIMA) and the Layered Stress Model as guides in curating humane and productive training plans for our clients. We have a holistic approach (meaning looking at the whole dog) and prioritize health and biological fulfillment in our training plans. Our training program has a heavy emphasis on play, relationship building, and curating a strong reward system.

What type of training tools do you use?

We use food, toys, affection, clickers, remote reward systems, muzzles and crates in our training program. We also use pressure based tools like slip leads, Starmark collars, prong collars, and E-Collars. We cannot say which tools will work best for your dog until we have met and evaluated them during your first class.

Which areas do you serve?

We service the Greater Boston Area for in person classes, hikes, walks, and boarding. We also offer online training and have successfully trained dogs from all over the country via these classes for a variety of issues including leash reactivity, separation anxiety, multi-dog household aggression, cooperative care, and so much more.

How does payment for services work?

We use Pet Pocketbook to schedule and bill for our services. Pet Pocketbook does have a surcharge and we do allow check and cash payments if you wish to avoid the surcharge.

Payment is due the Monday after your service.

Boarding requires a $50 a night non-refundable deposit at the time of booking to reserve your spot.

Board and Trains and Home School require a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking to reserve your spot

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Cancellations/Reschedules must be made at least 48 hours before the start of your service. If you cancel or reschedule within 48 hours of your appointment, you are responsible to pay for the full price for the class.

Can I call to set up an appointment or ask questions?

We do not accept phone calls from clients unless you have scheduled an online class with us.  This helps us maintain our schedules and promote work-life balance for all our staff. New clients can converse via email with any questions or concerns they have about our program. Current clients can email their trainer or chat via PetPocketbook for questions, concerns, and reschedules.
