Highly recommend, and cannot say enough good things about Community K9! I appreciate their research-based training approach, and they genuinely care about our pet’s long term well-being to help us build attainable goals and specific steps to achieve them.

I write to share my experience working with and truly knowing Annie Buchholz, and to attest to her intelligence, professionalism, work ethic, passion (and compassion), kindness, nurturing ways, and her skill and ability in caring for/training animals.

We met Annie in the Spring of 2013, I knew upon meeting her that she was mature beyond her years. She was professional and articulate, but there was also a depth and complexity that shone through. She began to take Samantha out of the city for hiking adventures and about a year later, we added another golden retriever puppy, Oscar, to the mix, and Annie brought him along on walks and hikes. Oscar is naturally fearful, he began to react. However, Annie took it upon herself to learn about his behavioral tendencies and to work with him extensively. As a result of these steps, Oscar truly became a more confident and secure dog and life just became so much easier for ALL of us (including Samantha). She also established a relationship with our veterinarian and opened our eyes to holistic treatments for a variety of ailments.

We were having trouble with leash reactivity and overall engagement with our dog. Micaela introduced us to a new way of thinking and some new tools which have helped us shape the way we communicate with our dog. The private sessions were all about teaching us how to work with our dog, with clear verbal instructions and real world examples to help us better understand what we were being taught.

I am SO THANKFUL for Community K9. I will forever be grateful for the wisdom and knowledge that was provided to me for my Doberman sassy girl MAYA! The original plan was to do off-leash training on the e-collar with Micaela. And that we did! Along with tons of behavior work on the side. I thought that Maya was beginning to get reactive due to some interactions we had. Micaela gave us our homework and not just one but a few protocols to interact with Mayas behavior. With lots of guidance and many emails exchanged between Micaela and I, Maya is now the happiest Doberman that you will ever meet. Why? Michaela helped me understand what dog behavior means, what they need, and what is required of me as a Doberman owner. I now understand what it means to biologically fulfill my dog, I know how to read her, and our relationship has improved SO much. I am eternally grateful for you Micaela, thank you for working with us! Community K9 is a GEM! If you are looking to build a better relationship with your dog, give community k9 a call. Everyone on their team TRULY cares about the dogs mental and physical well being. We absolutely loved working with Community K9!!

Champ was a DREAM today on the car ride and ferry ride to and from Nantucket for the Daffodil Festival. We didn’t stay until the end, but he also gave everyone a run for their money in the dog costume contest. THANK YOU for giving me the tools to allow me to take him on such an adventure.

Zoey is definitely happier now than before we started. The clear communication has significantly improved our bond & relationship. Zoey is definitely way more comfortable with me than ever before. She is SO much more relaxed at home with us and even in the car now. Working through her reactive episodes with play time has also made such a huge difference.

I wanted to share that last weekend we were at my sister's house with a fence in yard, with about 9 people (all people she has met a few times) and my sister's dog. For the first time ever while playing with the other dog, Zoey actually came when I called her - multiple times! I was SO excited. Usually in these types of situations, where she has distractions, she is totally oblivious to anything I say. I did not have the e-collar on her either at the time. Though she is making great progress with the e-collar as well! We've done a few loose leash walks with the 30' leash dragging and I've barely had to correct her, between the e-collar and verbal corrections she is doing AMAZING!

Thank you SO SO SO much for all the time you've spent with us and improving our lives so much with Zoey! :) I love every opportunity to share (and brag about) how much Zoey has grown and improved through this training. Every so often we think back to how her behavior was when we first got her, when we were told we needed to bring her back to the shelter, the non-stop hours of barking and constant mouthing at our hands... It still amazes me how far she has come, sometimes it's hard to believe what we went through at the beginning compared to the dog she is now!

Just wanted to give Beth some kudos & let you know how much we appreciate how great she's been with Stu over the past year!

We know that he can be a lot to deal with but Beth has been so reliable/patient with him & given us honest feedback that we've been able to incorporate into our own training. We love Community K9!

Tonight for the first time in the training journey I got Dunkin to play the chase game with no food, we just used a toy! This is HUGE! He never wanted to play with us before and showed little interest in toys- lately he is getting more and more into it and tonight we full on played and he wanted to play! He was acting like puppy! I can’t thank you enough! He has been going to work with me when I am in the office two days a week and everyone has been complimenting us on how well behaved he is and also on his listening skills! He was a good dog before we started this, but I can see he is now becoming a next level dog! I can’t wait to continue to grow with him on this journey and continue improve his relationship with us! Thank you so much!

I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am for all of your help and knowledge that you have offered us this year. Yesterday on the trail, Bean was off leash, she got low into a play bounce when she saw other dogs way up on the trail running towards us, I recalled her once and she immediately turned around and came to me. It was excellent. I was so proud of her. Having that kind of trust in her on the trails is such a relief.

Olive has successfully stayed at home for 5 hours with absolutely no incident, and I no longer worry about leaving her alone for long periods. I can also do functional, smaller tasks without worrying– I can leave her in the car to run inside CVS without her flipping out, and I can leave her with a friend at a bar patio to go inside and order another drink and she doesn’t care at all. She is still allowed to sleep in the bed with me, but often chooses to sleep in her donut bed or on the couch instead, which is also a great sign that she’s gaining independence. Her overall confidence has grown so much and I am so proud of her and grateful for all of your advice. At first it seemed like an overwhelming task to add all of these activities into her life, but it’s totally doable and has made such a huge difference. I feel like I have “unlocked” a whole new level of dog.

Micaela is absolutely amazing to work with . We have had a few private sessions and I’ve never met someone who is more knowledgeable about dogs. I have worked with other trainers in the past but none of them truly understand dogs, behavior, and how to create lasting changes over time. I can’t say enough amazing things about how I feel working with Micaela.

I started working with Micaela 2 months ago after an unexpected bite from my 3 year old rescue. Micaela has taught us so much!!! Before we started working with her he was reactive, he was very anxious on walks and was really looking for direction/advocacy from me. With Micaela’s help in a very short time we see a completely different dog. My children have engaged in training sessions as well as my dog walker to reinforce good habits and build a strong system of communication across the board. Micaela follows up every training session with an email reviewing everything and attaches relevant training videos and resources to assist. Micaela is so knowledgeable and intuitive and our family is so grateful for helping us give our pup the best life possible.

Helped my dog get to a place I never thought he would after many, many failed attempts with others’ guidance. Couldn’t trust anyone more than these folks. So incredibly grateful for them.

Community K9 has been an incredible resource for our dog Misty, and us as her humans!  We have worked with a handful of trainers over the years, mainly due to moving around a lot.  Micaela's approach stood out to us as holistic, nuanced, and tailored to the individual dog.  Her knowledge of dog body language was unique and we were learning things for the first time that have helped us "read" our dog and understand her needs in a new way.  Micaela was also able to help with aspects of health and wellness, and recently we have been able to trim Misty's nails without sedating her - for the first time in years!

After working with Micaela and Zach for close to a year, Misty was able to join the group hikes which has been great.  Misty is a happier and healthier dog overall, and my husband and I are happier owners!  She’s made incredible progress with her reactivity, but we’ve also gained a better understanding of why she reacts and how we can set her up for success.  We highly recommend Micaela and her team!

I have worked with Community K9 for over 3 years to help train and board my dogs. I highly recommend and refer people to Micaela and her team. They have been excellent in providing me with guidance for my bulldogs and I am very thankful I found them!
